Savor the Harvest
As the leaves turn and the air cools, I'm reminded of L.M. Montgomery's beautiful words, "I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers."
Oh, and I am. Each year, somehow, I am surprised once again by the symphony of colors, the shimmering crispness in the air, and the indescribably rich harvest the season brings. It makes me feel alive in a way that I had perhaps forgotten for a spell. It's a time to slow down, witness, and truly savor the abundance of being.
October offers especially tender gifts to those of us on a journey toward mindful, intentional living and balanced well-being. It presents the opportunity to connect with the earth's natural cycles of letting go, harvesting, and renewal. As we watch the leaves dissolve their verdant masks and reveal their underlying, unique vibrance, we're reminded of the beauty that waits within all of us to be revealed. As we clear our tables, we claim space for the abundant harvest, the cornucopia of all we have grown and that Life has provided.
This is a Season to be Savored.

I hope you'll give yourself this one mindful minute, my friend. You deserve to be awake and at ease in your life. You deserve at least a few brief moments of your own time and tender attention.
Savoring Breath Practice
This practice is designed to help you connect deeply with the abundance and ease of the present moment.
1. Find a Quiet Space: Begin by finding a quiet spot where you can sit comfortably without distractions, perhaps near a window where you can see the colors of the season or in a favorite cozy corner.
2. Breathe Deeply: Close your eyes and take a deep, slow breath in through your nose, filling your lungs. Notice the sensations this brings. Feel the coolness of the air, the scent of leaves and bonfires.
3. Hold and Savor: At the top of the inhale, pause and float on top of the breath for a moment. Savor this pause. Enjoy the stillness, the beauty of the present moment. Relish the sensation of expansive ease and abundance.
4. Slow Exhale: Exhale slowly through your mouth, releasing the breath with a gentle sigh. As you breathe out, visualize softening and releasing anything you no longer need, just as the trees let go of their leaves.
5. Hold and Savor: At the bottom of the exhale pause again. Savor the sense of weightless release. Enjoy the stillness, the beauty of openness and possibility, the space.
6. Repeat: Continue this practice for a few minutes, allowing yourself to become more relaxed and grounded with each round breath. With every inhale and pause, draw in and savor the richness of this season of your life; with every exhale and pause, release and let go, savoring the freedom and lightness it brings.
7. Release: When ready, shift back into your natural breath. Let go of the pause and allow your inhale and exhale to flow. Savor the totality of the breath in each moment.
I hope this Savoring Breath practice brings you a deeper sense of peace and connection to the beauty and abundance around (and within) you. I hope, too, that it helps you slow down, appreciate the simple joys, and nourish your body and soul with the harvest of the season.
