One Mindful Minute: Goddess Laugh Practice

Life has been, well... A LOT lately. I'm hearing it from clients, students, friends, and family. Heck, I'm feeling it myself. The usual stillness and relative calm of late winter have been flooded with a flurry of stimuli, leaving many of us overwhelmed, anxious, agitated, or shut down. Maybe you are feeling this too (and then some).

It’s important to remember that these are all normal responses to chaotic times. The emotions and physical sensations we experience are powerful signals. They tell us how our internal and external environments align with, or challenge, our innate needs and values. When aligned, we feel ease, peace, connection, safety, and joy. When misalignment arises, we often experience discomfort: anger, grief, overwhelm, confusion, disconnection, agitation, or numbness. All of these sensations, whether pleasant or difficult, offer invaluable information about who we are, what we need, what we value, and how our current circumstances either support or threaten those elements.

When we're filled with joy, ease, connection, and the like, we naturally seek to sustain and amplify the circumstances that created them. However, when we find ourselves in pain, sadness, or shutdown, we face a choice: to remain on the current path, perpetuating and even magnifying the discomfort, or to initiate change. For the human brain, efficiency of effort is the default. We would rather choose the torture we know than risk the shadows lurking in unknown territory. There is just too much energy required to learn or do something new and to be on the constant lookout for threats in the process. So, quite often, the pain of supporting the status quo must greatly outweigh the effort and discomfort of altering established patterns before we even consider change.

Ugh. 

While it may instinctually sound (and feel) crazy to our human brain, the truth is opportunity and evolution live within the heart of friction and upheaval. Many spiritual traditions, in fact, caution against getting too comfortable. Why? Because our greatest growth is found in the process of navigating the uncomfortable and unknown. It is exactly these untethered and wild moments that push us to resculpt our ways of seeing, being, and acting in the world. They force us to create new perspectives, strategies, and patterns that more holistically support and sustain ourselves and our communities.

When we embrace this opening within upheaval, we can approach it as a profound spiritual practice. We can imbue our efforts with grace, courage, and love. We can clarify what is most important for us and take action that aligns with our spirit. 

Transformation doesn’t come from bypassing our struggles. It emerges from acknowledging them with radical honesty and clarity. True empowerment begins with recognizing where we hold the most agency: within ourselves. By intentionally shifting our internal state, we cultivate resilience and alignment which radiate outward into our choices, relationships, and communities. This is how we create a life, and a world, built on authenticity and compassion.

This week’s One Mindful Minute practice invites you to step into your power by rooting into your body, reclaiming your space, revitalizing your breath, and allowing your beautiful voice to reverberate outward into the world.

Ground. Find Your Voice. Embody Your Power.

Your voice is more than just sound or a vehicle for language. Your voice is an extension of Self, a bridge between your innermost being and the outer world. In this short Goddess Laugh Practice, you’ll create a sense of presence and grounding, connecting your voice, breath, and body to unlock the power that lives within you. 🌿✨

Through intentional movement, breath, and vocalization, you will: 🔹 Ground deeply in your body, feeling rooted and steady
🔹 Open your voice with confidence, clarity, and resonance
🔹 Release patterns of holding back, shrinking, or silencing yourself
🔹 Embody your truth with strength, presence, and authenticity
